THE MUSIC SALON™, founded in 2008, provides an audience and community of fellow creative artists who enjoy coming together in a supportive space to make music! We welcome all musicians (as well as poets, actors, and songwriters), but are particularly supportive of the needs of singers. Come to make music and enjoy the company of other creative artists!

I began the Salon in 2008 because I wanted to provide a place for performers to perform for each other in a relaxed setting that promotes creativity. I also want to provide a place for community, something that is often difficult to find in the performing world.

A large part of the business for singers and other musicians is auditioning, competing, and performing for reviewers. That is exactly the kind of performance experience that squelches creativity and encourages us to perform in ways that are expected or that are designed solely to impress, rather than allowing the creative impulse from deep within to infuse the performance with life—and infusing a performance with life is essential to moving the audience and to becoming a great artist. I create a safe and transformative space for you to make the creative artist more available to you in performance. This offers you a chance to experience relating to the audience in a different way, and you just might find this spills over into your professional work.

The group is not open to the public or to spectators in order to maintain a safe and comfortable space for the creative artists. If you are interested in joining us, or know of someone who might be, you are warmly invited to let me know by emailing me.

It’s fine to run pieces when you’re getting ready for a big audition or a show, and it’s equally fine to experiment with work that you’re not sure about or that is a departure from your usual genre or style.

We always have a kind, highly-skilled, and experienced accompanist assisting us, one who can sight read anything you choose to bring, who knows how to support singers, and who is aligned with the purpose of THE MUSIC SALON™. (See more below about the Salon Pianist.)

Periodically the Salon also offers workshops or classes that serve and engage us as creative artists, offering information, experience, or support in the space of our musical community.

Come join us, and have a great time singing and networking!

The Music Salon Pianist

THE MUSIC SALON™ is a different kind of performance, and we need a different kind of pianist to support our singers and instrumentalists. The pianist who plays for the SALON is extremely important in providing the foundation for the group, not only with their musical and accompanying skills, but with their attitude and feeling.

THE MUSIC SALON provides an audience and community of fellow artists who are committed to performing without judgment or egocentric motives. We are particularly supportive of the needs of singers, although we welcome musicians of any instrument.

I began THE MUSIC SALON in 2008 because I wanted to provide a place for performers to perform for each other in a relaxed setting that promoted creativity. Also, as I mention at the start of every Salon, I want to provide a place for community, something that is often difficult to find in the performing world. Each Salon consists of one to two hours of music, followed by light refreshments and time for conversation and networking.
